Hi, I’m Julie!

I’m so glad you’re here.

I view therapy as a much-needed pause in the busyness of life— a dedicated space for you to delve into your inner world, gain meaningful insights, and take intentional steps towards change.

Therapy with me will typically unfold in three key stages:

Exploration

Together, we'll navigate your thoughts, emotions, and experiences to uncover underlying patterns

Insight

By understanding these patterns, you'll develop a deeper self-awareness that empowers you to make informed choices

Action

We'll collaborate to translate these insights into concrete actions, fostering growth and transformation

My goal is for our sessions to uncover both the "how" and "why" behind the reasons you’re seeking therapy. Not only will I help you manage your symptoms, but I also will help you understand their root causes.

The "why" gets to the heart of your experiences, exploring past influences, patterns, and beliefs that shape your present difficulties.

The "how" is about the ways these issues show up in your daily life—how they impact your thoughts, choices, and relationships.

Together, I want us to connect these pieces, offering you clarity and tools to make lasting changes and move forward with more self-awareness and intention.

I believe that just as relationships can be a source of harm, they can also be a powerful space for healing.

As a relational therapist, my focus will be on our relationship and how the dynamics between us reflect your relationships with others. We’ll explore your experiences with attachment, communication, and emotional responses.

My approach is grounded in a trauma-informed, psychodynamic lens. I seek to understand how your past experiences influence your present emotional and relational world.

I aim to support lasting change by incorporating what research has shown to improve overall mental health and well-being.

We’ll discuss how you can create more space for connecting with those around you, building strong relationships, cultivating a sense of meaning and purpose, celebrating your achievements, and increasing the presence of pleasant emotions in your life.

I work with adults facing a variety of challenges, including anxiety, trauma, stress, the tendency to compare, as well as self-esteem.

I also address relationship and dating challenges, family conflict, and major life transitions, including grief and difficulties related to school and work.

Therapeutic Approach

  • TL:DR How does your past influence your present?

This approach focuses on insight, emotional processing, and our therapeutic relationship to understand your present day challenges. With a strong emphasis on identifying core beliefs, underlying drives, and formative relationships, this form of talk therapy helps you use insight from your past to understand how it impacts your present. This can be helpful if you're looking to understand recurring life patterns more deeply. It's generally long term, exploratory, and supportive.

  • TL;DR How do early relationships & attachment styles affect your emotional well-being & present relationships?

This approach is rooted in attachment theory, focusing on understanding and healing the emotional and relational patterns developed in early childhood. This aims to help you recognize how your early attachments influence your current relationships and emotional well-being. It provides a framework for understanding and healing relational patterns and promoting healthier relationships and emotional resilience.

  • TL;DR What are the connections between your thoughts, emotions, and actions?

This form of therapy is helpful if you're looking to address challenges in your mental health (and life) in the here-and-now. The CBT framework focuses on identifying concrete thoughts and behaviors that hinder your life, and transform them through coping skills, thought restructuring, and behavioral change. Commonly known as the “gold standard” for therapy, CBT methods for anxiety, depression, and related disorders have been scientifically proven to decrease mental health symptoms and improve quality of life in a short amount of time.

  • TL;DR Learn to manage your emotions, improve your relationships, & build skills in mindfulness and distress tolerance.

This form of therapy incorporates mindfulness and behavioral change and is helpful if you're struggling with persistent feelings of distress, toxic relationships, and other intense emotions. DBT is comprised of four main section; mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal skills. With the goal of learning to build a life worth living, it takes a practical, yet personal, approach to behavior change that empowers you to transform even the hardest life circumstances.

  • TL;DR You're the expert on you.

This is a non-directive approach that encourages you to lead the sessions and find your own solutions, while I offer empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness. This is ideal if you're looking to increase self-confidence, authenticity, and trust in your decisions, and can be helpful for issues like anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship difficulties. I'll act as a supportive facilitator, listening without judgment, and helping you gain self-understanding and growth in a compassionate and non-authoritative setting.

Outside of work…

I’m passionate about not only my mental health—been in and out of therapy since I was 15!—but also my physical well-being. Staying active is a priority for me, whether it's Pilates, yoga, dance, or walking around the city.

I love discovering New York’s endless amount of live entertainment and restaurants. I enjoy reading fiction and celebrity memoirs (audiobooks count!) and winding down with a mix of scripted series and reality TV.

I can never resist booking a flight, especially when it’s an opportunity to explore a new culture!
