What It’s Like to Work With Me

If your mind feels like it's always on; overanalyzing, anticipating, or struggling to slow down, you're not alone!

I work with young adults and professionals navigating anxiety, OCD, relationship stress, and career transitions. Having navigated many of these challenges myself, I bring both clinical training and genuine understanding of what it's like to get stuck in cycles of self-doubt, overthinking, and uncertainty.

Clients often describe me as warm, thoughtful, and easy to talk to, but I don't believe therapy is just about having a supportive place to vent.

While building trust and rapport is important, I also believe meaningful change sometimes requires honest conversations. As our therapeutic relationship develops, I'll share observations, gently challenge patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and offer direct feedback when I believe it will help you move toward your goals.

My style is collaborative rather than confrontational. I won't tell you what decisions to make, but I will help you explore blind spots, question assumptions, and consider new perspectives that may be difficult to see on your own.

As a Limited Permit therapist in New York, I practice under the supervision of Julie Newman, LMHC-D. You'll work directly with me in every session while benefiting from the added support of ongoing clinical supervision and consultation with her.

Therapy isn't about eliminating uncertainty or silencing every anxious thought. It's about building a more secure relationship with yourself so anxiety, OCD, or stress no longer runs your life.

My Specialities

I work with clients who are navigating:

In session, I integrate:

My Focus on OCD & ERP

I have specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold standard treatment for OCD.

If intrusive thoughts feel loud, sticky, or overwhelming, you’re not broken — your brain is trying to protect you in an unhelpful way

In our work together, we’ll focus on helping you:

  • Reduce the power of intrusive thoughts

  • Tolerate uncertainty without engaging in compulsions

  • Break reassurance seeking cycles

  • Feel less controlled by your mind

ERP is structured and evidence-based, but it doesn’t have to feel cold or rigid. We’ll move at a pace that feels challenging yet manageable.

If OCD or anxiety is interfering with your relationships, work, or daily life, I bring focused tools and steady support to that process.

We may be a good fit if…

  • You struggle with anxiety, overthinking, OCD symptoms, relationship stress, or feeling stuck in patterns.

  • You're highly self aware but find yourself repeating the same thoughts, behaviors, or relationship dynamics despite knowing better.

  • You're feeling overwhelmed by work, life changes, dating, family relationships, or the pressure to have everything figured out.

  • You want a therapist who balances emotional insight with practical tools and strategies.

  • You're open to being challenged while also wanting a warm, supportive space to process what's going on.

  • You're motivated to better understand yourself and make meaningful changes in your life and relationships.

  • You're looking for a collaborative therapist who will help you build self-trust and confidence in your decisions.

We may not be a good fit if…

  • You're looking for a therapist who will tell you exactly what to do or make decisions for you.

  • You're seeking a quick solution rather than a process of reflection, growth, and gradual change.

  • You're not interested in exploring how your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships influence one another.

  • You prefer a therapy style that is highly directive and focused primarily on advice giving.

  • You are seeking a higher level of care or more specialized treatment than an outpatient private practice setting can provide.

  • You are looking for therapy only to confirm what you already believe rather than to explore new perspectives.

Finding the right therapist matters.

If you're unsure whether we're a good fit, schedule a free 15 minute consultation with me to get a sense of how I work and whether my approach feels right for you.

Outside of Session

When I’m not in session, you’ll probably find me trying a new restaurant or natural wine bar, taking a workout class, or cooking something new in my kitchen.

I recharge through shopping, watching a new show, spending time with friends, or enjoying a quiet evening to reset.

FAQs

  • In New York, a Limited Permit allows a therapist who has completed their Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling to practice therapy while completing the required supervised 3,000 clinical hours for full licensure.

I conduct therapy sessions independently and receive ongoing weekly supervision from Julie. This means my clinical work is regularly reviewed and supported to ensure thoughtful, ethical, and high quality care.

Clients work directly and consistently with me, while also benefiting from structured professional oversight behind the scenes.

  • I meet with Julie for one hour each week for clinical supervision. During this time, we review treatment, discuss clinical questions, and ensure my work aligns with best practices and ethical standards.

Supervision also supports my ongoing professional development and helps maintain sustainable, thoughtful care for my clients.

  • $225 for 45 minute session
$250 for 45 minute couples therapy session

We are an out of network practice and do not accept insurance, but we can help you get reimbursed if your plan offers out of network benefits for therapy.

Many clients are reimbursed 60 - 90% of the session fee once their out of network deductible is met. We can either submit claims on your behalf or provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance.

Visit our Fees & Insurance page to learn more and instantly check your out of network benefits. You can even estimate your cost per session using our free insurance benefits calculator!

  • Julie and I share a similar therapeutic philosophy and both provide thoughtful, relational, and evidence based care. Our differences primarily reflect areas of focus, stage of career, and availability.

I have specialized training in OCD,‍ ‍Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Career Transitions and Couples Therapy and may be an especially strong fit for clients seeking structured support for anxiety and intrusive thoughts. I offer slightly more flexible availability and a lower session fee, while working under ongoing clinical supervision.

Julie has over nine years of licensed experience and specializes in anxiety, attachment and relationships, and burnout.

If you’re unsure which clinician may be the best fit, you’re welcome to schedule a consultation to discuss your goals and explore what feels most aligned.

  • OCD and anxiety can overlap, particularly in how persistent and consuming thoughts can feel. Typically, OCD involves intrusive, unwanted thoughts paired with behaviors or mental rituals intended to reduce distress or gain certainty. Anxiety, on the other hand, often presents as ongoing worry or overthinking without the same compulsive patterns.

The distinction isn’t always immediately clear and it doesn’t need to be. Part of our work together is understanding the nature of your thoughts and responses so we can approach them in a way that feels both effective and supportive.

  • It’s common to wonder whether you’re “ready” for Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), especially since it can sound intimidating at first.

In reality, readiness isn’t about feeling fully prepared or unafraid. It’s more about having a willingness to begin approaching the thoughts, situations, or uncertainties you’ve been avoiding, with the right support in place.

ERP is always introduced gradually and collaboratively. We move at a pace that feels manageable, building both understanding and confidence along the way.

Part of our work together is determining whether ERP is the right fit for you, and if so, helping you engage with it in a way that feels both effective and sustainable.
